Smile Makeover

2. Why you need a smile makeover

The appearance of your smile can make a big impression, especially when you meet people for the first time. When you look and feel your best, people take notice and treat you differently.

Whether it’s a social gathering, business introduction, or performance appraisal, the way your smile looks can have a significant impact on your self-confidence and influence the way others perceive you.

If you are uncomfortable with your smile, or if you tend to hide it in pictures or when you meet people, we can help. Smile makeovers are suitable for people who are looking to have a full transformation rather than a minor change. With a smile makeover, we change the shape of your teeth, the lining of your gums and correct the alignment of any crooked or displaced teeth. You can get the desired proportions that will compliment your facial structure and features.

3. Components of a beautiful smile

Every patient gets a unique smile.

No two smiles are ever the same. We advise patients to bring a picture of a smile they like with them to their initial consultation – in 2018, Meghan Markle’s smile happened to be the most requested smile in the world.

The best thing to do when looking for inspiration is to look for people that have similar facial structures as you.

What makes a beautiful smile is healthy-looking teeth. Good looking teeth are clean, have a natural white colour and fit the mouth perfectly. Sometimes our natural teeth are discoloured over time, are uneven in structure or are simply disproportional to the rest of our face. A perfect smile has all of these components corrected. The teeth are the same size, are not too big or too small, the colour is a pearly white that is fitting for your skin tone and your gums are well aligned for the size and structure of your teeth and lips.

If you are looking to elevate your look, gain more confidence in your everyday personal and professional life with a smile makeover. Dr JJ is the best in town when it comes to this life-changing dental treatment. Contact our offices today for your consultation.

4. How to get a smile makeover

Deciding to have a smile makeover is a big deal, but we try to make it as easy as possible and give you all the information to help you make the best decision for your health and happiness.

We start the process by having a conversation, answering your questions and letting you know what you can expect. A smile makeover is a complex process – it involves many steps and procedures which combine to produce the perfect smile for your unique face.

Before you can undergo a smile makeover, your cosmetic dentist has to conduct a broad evaluation of your teeth, bite, underlying support structure and gums. This helps to determine candidacy for a smile makeover. However, if the evaluation reveals that you have poor oral health – such as a misaligned bite or gum disease – treatment will be recommended before the smile makeover process can commence.

Following your evaluation and the treatment of any significant issues, your JJS Dentistry team will present you with a comprehensive treatment plan. Your unique plan will consist of all of the unique treatments you need in order to have the smile of your dreams.

Your treatments and procedures will be scheduled to allow you adequate recovery time, while fitting into your schedule. At every step of the way, your JJS Dentistry team will be there for you, answering your questions and addressing your concerns. We want to guide you through the process and help you understand each step and why it is necessary for you.

5. Who qualifies for smile makeovers

When we talk about the perfect smile, we’re talking about a bright, beautiful smile that transforms your face. Each person has different criteria for what they value in a smile, so each person has different ideas of what the perfect smile means.

The ideal candidate for a smile makeover has emotional reasons for wanting to change their smile, as well as physical ones. If you are self-conscious about your smile, if it bothers you in pictures or if you tend to hide it when you’re with company – a smile makeover may be ideal for you.

The treatments and procedures involved in a smile makeover can include minor treatments, like teeth whitening, or major procedures, like implants. In order to perform any of these, we need to make sure your teeth are as healthy as possible and that your tooth enamel can handle the changes. This means that the overall health of your teeth will play a large part in whether you qualify as a candidate for a smile makeover.

That being said, we will take any steps we can in order to improve your oral health to the point where you can proceed with your treatments.

When you have a better smile, you feel more confident and people will notice it. Confidence goes a long way in your social and professional life.

A smile makeover this the ultimate improvement to your smile. It is a journey to a perfect smile specially designed for you. It is the process of improving the appearance of your smile through one or more cosmetic dentistry procedures.

6. Which procedures are included in a smile makeover?

A smile is one of a few things that can really attract someone towards you. Having a beautiful smile is nothing short of a gift that can add immeasurable charm to your personality. However, the sad reality is that not everyone is born with a perfect smile. While some people may have perfectly aligned teeth, they may suffer from unattractive elements such as discoloured, chipped or decaying teeth. Thanks to the advancements in dentistry, everyone is now able to have an alluring smile, with a smile makeover as part of cosmetic dental procedures.

A smile makeover is one of the most popular services in the field of dentistry. At JJS Dentistry, we offer a variety of dental procedures that can effectively transform an unattractive smile into a smile that boasts perfection and confidence. The variety of dental procedures that we offer for smile makeovers include:

Composite bonding

Composite bonding is a cosmetic technique in which composite resin is shaped and moulded on your teeth to give the appearance of a straighter, whiter smile. It can be used as a cosmetic solution to chipped teeth, gapped teeth and discolouration in both teeth and fillings.

Tooth implants

Dental implants are metal posts that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums, in order to provide bone-like support for the replacement teeth that will be placed onto it.

Dental veneers

Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain or composite resin that are custom made to fit over teeth, providing a natural, attractive look. They can be used to fix chipped, stained, misaligned, worn down, uneven or abnormally spaced teeth.

Teeth whitening

Tooth whitening is the process which lightens teeth, helps remove stains, and corrects tooth discolouration.

Gum contouring

Gum contouring shapes your gums to fit your teeth structure, this results in a less gummy smile. If your gums seem too big for your smile, or they protrude awkwardly, a gum contour may be a part of your smile makeover.

7. How much does a smile makeover cost?

Every smile is unique, so every smile makeover will be different too.

The cost of your makeover will depend on several factors, including the selection of treatments you need, how much preparation you need, the timeline of your makeover, and which specialists we need to utilize.

It sounds expensive, but you’d be surprised at how much a few treatments could transform your smile. Not every person will need a mouthful of veneers, not everyone needs several implants. Most candidates have structurally healthy teeth and just need a few tweaks to make a huge difference.

Treatments like whitening and bonding carry a lot of value for money and can make a huge difference when done correctly.

All of your unique needs are considered when we put together your treatment plan – including your budget, and the team at JJS Dentistry will always endeavour to ensure you get value for your money.

Expectations also play a huge part in our treatment process – so before you commit to your treatment, we want to make sure that you know exactly what you’re getting and how your smile will turn out so you can be sure you’re making the right decision. Our digital previews will show you the results before you commit to treatment so you know what the return on your investment will be.

That being said – a smile makeover is an investment in your happiness, confidence and quality of life. A great smile will bring you confidence, self-assurance, and opportunity. Can you really afford not to have one?

Phase 1

During the first appointment a detailed diagnosis of the challenges is formulated. Multiple detailed photos and videos are taken of, not just the mouth, but a full facial profile is formulated. Impressions are taken and registration of the occlusal profile is registered.

Phase 2

Digital smile design is performed to be registered on the study models. An artistic “mock-up” is formulated onto the models so a prototype of the proposed changes can be created. The “mock-up” is then transferred to the patients mouth with a special acrylic. This procedure is non-invasive and removed directly after any modifications is made. The object being to have a true 3 dimensional view of the proposed treatment plan. The patient will now receive a comprehensive treatment plan and cost estimation of all the possible treatment options The patient can now make an informed decision about the treatment that suits their needs.

Phase 3

Preparation of the teeth is now performed according to the prototype. This preparation phase might include only a single visit, but might also include a period of adjustment to new occlusal schemes or any surgery that’s needed to support the proposed structures. The last step will be to take micro records of the teeth that will be transferred to the ceramist to manufacture the restorations. This might be digital or analog.

Phase 4

The final restorations will now be delivered. This will be followed by final photographs and a maintenance program. The maintenance program will differ depending on the type of treatment that was performed.
